Professional Experience:

After 3 years in Environmental Design studies at East Carolina University, KJ decided that she did indeed want to pursue a career in Architecture, so she transferred to the College of Architecture @ University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and was awarded the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 1994.

KJ started her professional career working for a design build firm before starting her official internship with Strout Architects in 1997. During her 6+ years with Strout Architects, KJ was an integral member of  the design team and acted as project manager for projects requiring expertise in architectural programming, architectural design, design development, contract documents, and construction supervision. Projects included custom frame, timber and log homes, office and conference facilities, and retail and resort development.

In Spring 2004, KJ decided she would like to pursue other professional endeavors such as critical writing and her interest in Co-Housing communities. KJ has been consistently active within the AIA, participating on committees at the local and state Chapter levels before taking the staff position of AIA Wyoming Executive Director in January 2004.

You can usually find KJ in her home studio as she is currently preparing to take the Colorado ARE in Fall 2006 and continues to seek creative opportunities in Architectural Design, Writing, and Community Development.
